Bana Hills

Today, we booked a private tour to visit Bana Hills. Bana Hills is located about an hour away from Da Nang and we were picked up promptly from our hotel at 8:30am. We were taken by car to our destination. All was well, until...

The car DIED! In the middle of the road! We all hopped out and Michael helped them push it to the side of the road. Our guide built a make-shift café and provided us with tables, chairs, and drinks while we waited for another vehicle.
Soon, we were on our way to Bana Hills. Bana Hills is an amusement park. It has a winery (that had existed since 1923), a temple, beautiful gardens, a wacky wax museum, three floors of games, rides, 5D movies, and way, way more! There is a European village complete with castles and a Starbucks coffee! There is also the famous bridge that is held up by two massive hands of the Gods which holds the 'golden string' between the fingers. It is truly a destination that is all its own. There was so much to see and take in.

To get up into the hills, visitors take a 3 part cable car system. This is the longest cable car in all of Asia. The view was amazing!

We stopped at the mid-level and took several pictures on the famous, TOTALLY crowded bridge. Wall to wall people!!

We visited the old winery- the only part of the original complex constructed by the French that VN destroyed after the war.

We toured the nine gardens and got lost in the maze garden. The landscaping and sculptures were beautiful.

Next, we visited the temple and the large Buddha statue.

We had lunch at the buffet with lots of unfamiliar offerings and then watched a show in the courtyard. The costumes and performers were really something to see!

Next was the wax museum. We were so amused by their 'impression' of various international figures...

Mr Elton John looked like he sold used cars!!  Looked a bit like Louie Anderson!

Mr. Bean.. what big eyes you have!!

Oh Marilyn, what sharp teeth you have. A little like a wolf...

                                                                                        Princess Catherine- is that you?!

After we regained our composure from laughing our heads off at the wax figures, we toured the rest of the massive ride and game complex. There were tons of attractions and things to do that were included in our ticket price. We did the 5D theater- especially funny because we had done the very same one in Gatlinburg last yea
Soon, it was time to leave Sun World (it was raining by now!) and head back to Da Nang.
