Today we went sightseeing in Hanoi. We primarily stayed around Hoan Kiem Lake and visited the red bridge and the pagoda/temple at the lake. It was especially crowded today as there was a local carnival. Turned out to be helpful to us as roads were blocked off from scooters careening around every corner.
We also spent some time visiting the old quarter of Hanoi. We did a little bit of shopping but no one in my family seemed to be interested in purchasing the GORGEOUS shrimp and squid:
I was not totally out of luck as we were able to have tasty shrimp and squid for lunch at a pricey (for Vietnam) little restaurant near the lake.
