We had a lot of laughs as we struggled to learn this painting technique that looks simple and is so much harder than it appears. It is all about creating three tones of color with one brush in 3 different degrees of lightness. Not too much contrast, not overly blended. Not easy to do!!
(The artist's tree with my feeble attempt at tri-colored leaves)
The artist spent time with each of us and tried hard to teach us. Some of us caught on quicker than others... Iyla did well and the artist just told her to make shorter strokes. Michael also did well. Janie?! Well, let's just say the guy who spoke not a word of English looked at my work, and said NOPE! LOL. Everytime he looked at my practice paper, he shook his head and came to work with me. Lots of good one-on-one time. Pretty sure he thinks I am an art moron. Definitely sure he is correct.
(I did pull off these two butterflies!!)
He made everyone a painting to take and a piece of handmade calligraphy. It was a great way to spend the afternoon!!

That looks like fun!
